Minolta Maxxum 50mm F2.8 MACRO (1:1) Auto Focus Lens. The Minolta Maxxum series of autofocus 35mm film cameras was launched in the Mid 1980s complete with a range of lenses and accessories based on the Minolta "A" Mount. The lenses are renowned for the quality of their optics. The lens is in excellent overall condition with minimal signs of use considering its age (see Photos). Minimal wear on the rear mount.

Diaphragm is snappy and operational under auto exposure. Focusing ring is smooth and progressive in operation both Manually and under Autofocus.

To the naked eye the lens appears free from fungus, has some dust particles typical of its age and use, and overall is clean and clear. It is complete with its Minolta lens caps. As this lens was originally designed for 35mm film cameras it is "Full Frame". Although it is a five contact connection lens it is compatible with later 8 contact format and is thus compatible with Sony Alpha and Konica Minolta "A" Mount Digital cameras.

I have used it with Sony Alpha digital cameras with excellent results. When using it with flash on Sony Alpha cameras the camera should be set to "Pre-flash TTL" in order to obtain optimum exposures and compensate for the missing distance chip of the 8 pin lenses. Considering the cost of a current Digital equivalent of this lens this is a small inconvenience considering the value it represents to get a fast, prime, 1:1 macro lens. The lens in this listing can be used on any compatible mount directly. For use on other mounts it will require an adapter.

If used on a non full frame digital camera apparent magnification of focal length will occur dependent on the ratio of Full Frame to sensor size in use.
